Rabbi’s Update 9/20/2023

Dear Friends:

I want to thank everyone who worked so hard to make sure that our Rosh Hashanah services were meaningful and ran smoothly. A lot of people put in a lot of work and are continuing to do so as we get ready for Yom Kippur and then Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret, and Simchat Torah. I was particularly grateful that Hazzan Komrad was able to lead us for all parts of the service this year and to do so as beautifully as ever.

If you missed my sermon on the first day or the study session on the second day, they are available on my YouTube Channel:

As you probably know, because of rain on the Second Day of Rosh Hashanah we did not hold our annual Tashlich service at North Creek Lake. Tashlich does not need to be said communally, however, and can be said individually at any body of natural water (like a lake or stream) through Hoshana Rabbah (the seventh day of Sukkot). The text of the service we use can be found here.

I will not be holding Drop-In Hours tomorrow. If you need to reach me please email me at rabbi@kehilatshalom.org or phone me at 301-977-0768.

L’shana Tova,

Rabbi Charles L. Arian
