Holiday Celebrations at Kehilat Shalom

Kehilat Shalom’s many holiday celebrations are a wonderful way to experience Judaism’s rich traditions with family and friends. From the intense awe of the High Holy Days to the wild silliness of Purim, our synagogue is a center of joy and worship for adults and children.

We welcome you to join us for:

Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, when the sanctuary fills with of worshipers welcoming the new year with the sound of the shofar blasts.

Sukkot, celebrated with the festive lulav and etrog procession, and gatherings in Kehilat Shalom’s sukkah.

Hanukkah, an occasion for parties bringing family and friends together in the synagogue.

Tu B’Shevat, the new year of trees, when we gather for a daytime seder, modeled on those held by medieval mystics.

Purim, with its carnival and Megillah readings geared for both adults and children.

Passover, which we celebrate in the synagogue with a second-night seder.
Authorization for Sale of Chametz 2014

Shavuot, when we commemorate the giving of the Torah with a late-night study session.

Tisha B’Av, when by dim light, we chant the book of Lamentations to mourn the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and other tragedies in Jewish history.

Yizkor, when we remember our loved ones at Yizkor memorial services during Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Passover, and Shavuot.
