Youth Groups at Kehilat Shalom

Kehilat Shalom’s youth groups offer a diverse program of informal and fun activities. Our staff and volunteers work to create innovative and engaging programs for the children and teens of Kehilat Shalom, both for students in our Religious School and those attending a Jewish Day School. For information about joining our youth groups and upcoming programs, please contact Becky Rutchik, Youth Director.

USY (United Synagogue Youth): Grades 9–12

Our USY chapter is a wonderful opportunity for Kehilat Shalom’s high school students to participate in a wide variety of social, religious, and community service activities, all while gaining valuable leadership experience and having lots of fun! In addition to chapter activities, USY teens participate in regional and international USY events and conventions and have the opportunity to tour the United States, Europe, and Israel.

Kadima: Grades 6–8

Kadima members get together for exciting trips, games, sporting events, holiday celebrations, arts and cultural activities, and social action projects. Through chapter and regional involvement, these middle school students develop their leadership skills and meet other Jewish youth from our area.

Machar: Grades 3–5

Machar members participate in fun activities that range from making shofars to having a mid-winter pool party. Machar is a great way to get to know other Jewish kids outside of religious school.

Bonim: Grades K–2

Bonim is a family-friendly introduction to our youth groups designed to help lay the foundation for future youth group involvement.
